Guwahati: Fresh clash was reported from Kangpokpi and other districts in Manipur just after the resumption of free movement and bus services.
While no official statement regarding the situation was shared by officials, there were videos and images of the violence was widely being circulated on social media.
Some images show a mob claimed to be of the Kuki community blocking the roads and vandalising certain vehicles.
Earlier on Saturday, civilian buses escorted by security forces resumed their trips across districts, despite ongoing protests by the Kuki tribes. The Kuki community had been demanding a separate administration carved out of the state and has been blocking roads to press their demand.
Visuals from Kangpokpi district, located about 45 km from the state capital Imphal, show mine-resistant vehicles leading the way and ploughing through blockades.
However, the situation took a violent turn when several women reportedly from the Kuki tribes attempted to block the highway.
Some were even injured in a lathi-charge by security forces.
The Centre had announced a ban on road blockades across the state, which has been under President's rule since the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
