March 10, 2025: A celebratory rally marking India’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy turned violent near Jama Masjid in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, as clashes broke out between two groups. Vehicles were set on fire, and stones were pelted, leading to chaos in the area.
According to reports, the rally was passing through the Jama Masjid vicinity when unidentified individuals began throwing stones, triggering a violent altercation. Several vehicles were vandalized, with two vehicles and two shops set ablaze. Many rally participants were forced to flee, abandoning their motorcycles amid the escalating violence.
Following the incident, a heavy deployment of police personnel from Indore rural and Indore city was sent to restore order. While Mhow is an army cantonment, military forces were not separately deployed as army personnel are already stationed in the area.
Commenting on the situation, Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal confirmed that tensions had flared between two groups, primarily over firecrackers during the celebrations.
“The situation is completely under control now. I urge people not to believe in fake news. Adequate police force has been deployed, and we are patrolling the area. The incident will be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible will be punished. As of now, three people have been reported injured,” Vasal said.
Indore Collector Ashish Singh also reassured the public that law and order had been restored, stating, “The situation is under control, and forces are in place. The exact cause of the incident will be determined through further investigation.”
Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading misinformation as the probe continues.
