April 1, 2025: A tragic train accident occurred early this morning in Sahibganj district, claiming the lives of three people, including two loco pilots. The accident involved a coal-laden freight train that collided with an empty goods train on the Farakka-Lalmatiya MGR railway line, near the Barhait police station area.
The collision, which took place around 3:30 am, occurred when a coal-loaded goods train traveling from Lalmatiya crashed into an empty goods train stationed at Barhait MT. The impact was severe, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and leaving at least five railway workers and a CRPF jawan injured. All the injured individuals have been rushed to the Community Health Center in Barhait for medical treatment.
The local administration has dispatched a team to the accident site to assess the damage and begin an investigation into the cause of the collision.
