Guwahati: A fresh controversy has erupted in Northeast India, pitting the National People's Party (NPP) against former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The NPP has accused Singh of creating the ongoing crisis in Manipur and demanded an apology.
The row began when Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma objected to a social media post by Singh, which allegedly dragged his late father, Purnidal Agitok Sangma, into the region's ethnic conflicts. Singh retaliated, accusing Sangma of exploiting the situation for political gain.
The NPP has condemned Singh's remarks, saying they were influenced by the party's decision to withdraw support from his government in Manipur. The party praised PA Sangma as a national leader who worked for the greater good of the people.
