Lalu Prasad Yadav Hospitalised in Patna Due to High Sugar Levels, Likely to Be Shifted to AIIMS Delhi

April 2, 2025: Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, 76, was hospitalised on Wednesday after his health deteriorated while en route to the Patna airport. He was scheduled to board an Air India flight to Delhi at 4:05 pm but was instead admitted to Paras Hospital.

Sources revealed that Lalu Prasad, who has been battling heart-related ailments, suffered a sudden spike in blood sugar levels, leading to his hospitalisation. Medical officials indicate that he is likely to be shifted to AIIMS, Delhi, via air ambulance later today for further treatment.

Lalu Prasad has a history of severe health issues. He underwent angioplasty at Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute last year, and in 2014, he underwent a six-hour-long aortic valve replacement surgery at the same hospital. In July 2024, he was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi, following another health complication.

Additionally, in December 2022, the veteran politician underwent a kidney transplant surgery in Singapore, where his younger daughter, Rohini Acharya, donated a kidney to him.

Currently, Lalu Prasad Yadav is serving jail sentences in multiple fodder scam cases and is out on bail on medical grounds. His latest hospitalisation has raised concerns among his supporters and party members, who are closely monitoring his health condition.
