August 19, 2024: Eight people, including a Naam Thamizhar Katchi (NTK) functionary, have been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor at a school camp in Bargur in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district.

The incident occurred on August 9 when a 12 year old girl participated in an NCC camp for Class 5 and Class 7 students at school. The camp had 17 students, including the 12 year old and had reportedly slept in the school auditorium.

On August 16, the girl had fallen ill and when her parents asked about her health, she alleged that Sivaraman, who was part of the camp, had woke her up and took her to s secluded place and molested her, Sivaraman, who is also a functionary with the NTK, was expelled from the party after the incident surfaced.

Four special teams were formed to arrest Sivaram and Sudhakar, who were on the run. According to sources, the police found out during the investigation that Sivaraman had allegedly sexually assaulted more than five minors.

A special team arrested Sivaraman in Coimatore and is on the lookout for Sudhakar.
