October 31, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the eve of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) in Gujarat’s Ekta Nagar, honoring the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, celebrated annually on October 31.
The festivities commenced with a heartfelt floral tribute to Patel at the iconic Statue of Unity in Kevadia, a symbol of unity and integrity. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the event is set to feature a spectacular Indian Air Force flypast, showcasing the nation’s aerial prowess.
During the celebrations, Modi will administer the Ekta Diwas pledge and preside over the Ekta Diwas Parade, which will highlight the rich diversity of India with 16 marching contingents from nine states, a union territory police, and multiple central armed police forces. Among the participants will be the National Cadet Corps and a vibrant marching band.
Key attractions of the parade include a thrilling NSG Hell March contingent, an exhilarating daredevil show by BSF and CRPF bikers, an impressive demonstration of Indian martial arts by the BSF, and a piped band performance by local schoolchildren. The event will culminate with the Indian Air Force’s renowned ‘Surya Kiran’ flypast, promising to be a highlight of the celebrations.
