August 13, 2024: On Tuesday, the Supreme Court closed the contempt case against Yoga guru Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. in connection with the misleading advertisements case.

The top court was hearing a plea filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which alleged that Patanjali Ayurved had engaged in a smear campaign against the COVID vaccination drive and modern medical practices.

In February 2023, the Supreme Court temporarily banned such advertisements and issued contempt to court notices to Patanjali Ayurved and Balkrishna for making false claims.
