November 9, 2023: Omegle, the popular free online chat website that allowed users to socialize with others without the need to register, has officially shut down after 14 years.



The founder Leif K-Brooks on Wednesday announced in a statement that the cost of managing platform and handling its misuse have become big, making it financially and emotionally difficult.



Omegle was launched in March 2009 and gained popularity quickly. On the platform, one can connect any strangers online. Omegle was mostly used by teenagers and even content creators. Most YouTubers have also started their career by talking with strangers on the platforms.
