For the First Time, All-Women Security Team to Guard PM Modi’s Event on Women’s Day

March 7, 2025: In a historic first, an all-women security team will be deployed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event in Gujarat’s Navsari district on March 8, marking International Women’s Day. The unique initiative, announced by Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, will see women police personnel managing the entire security operation—from the PM’s arrival at Vansi Borsi village to the event venue.

The security team will comprise women officers across all ranks, including IPS officers, constables, and senior officials. Over 2,100 constables, 187 sub-inspectors, 61 police inspectors, 16 deputy superintendents of police, five SPs, one Inspector General of Police, and one Additional DGP rank officer will be on duty. Senior IPS officer and Home Secretary Nipuna Torawane will oversee the arrangements.

PM Modi is set to visit Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli on March 8, during which he will address the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ at Vansi Borsi. The initiative not only ensures security but also aims to send a strong global message about women's empowerment and their crucial role in maintaining law and order.

"This move highlights how Gujarat is setting an example in ensuring a safe and secure environment with active participation from women," said Minister Sanghavi.
