Allu Arjun Questioned by Police Over Pushpa 2 Stampede; Actor's Home Barricaded After Vandalism Incident

December 24, 2024: Telugu actor Allu Arjun left his home in Hyderabad on Tuesday to appear for questioning by the police, in connection with the tragic stampede that occurred during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rise earlier this month. The incident led to the death of a 35-year-old woman, identified as Revathi, and the hospitalization of her eight-year-old son.

Arjun was issued a police notice to appear at 11 AM on Tuesday as part of the ongoing investigation into the December 4 stampede that took place during a screening at Sandhya Theatre. Thousands of fans had gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor, which led to chaos and the unfortunate fatalities. Police sources confirmed that the actor’s appearance was mandatory for further questioning, and Arjun had previously stated his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.

To ensure safety and prevent further incidents, heavy security was deployed outside Arjun's home, where police barricaded the area. The increased security followed Sunday's disturbing event, when a group of individuals, claiming to be students of Osmania University, stormed Arjun's residence. The group, upset over the incident, vandalized the property, breaking flower pots, throwing tomatoes, and causing general damage.

In response to the violence, six individuals were arrested by the police, though they were granted bail by a Hyderabad court on Monday. The motive behind the attack was reportedly to demand a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the victim's family.

On December 13, following the stampede, the police filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the management of Sandhya Theatre under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Arjun was briefly arrested in connection with the case but was granted a four-week interim bail by the Telangana High Court the same day. He was released from prison on December 14.

In an effort to support the victim's family, Arjun pledged Rs 25 lakh as assistance, while the producers of Pushpa 2 contributed Rs 50 lakh. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the actor remains committed to cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
