Itanagar: Three individuals linked to multiple theft and burglary incidents were arrested by the police in Naharlugun, Arunachal Pradeh.
The arrests are part of an intensified crackdown on crime in the area, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of residents, police said.
The accused have been identified as Lokap Bagang, Nikhil Barman, and Tayu Taku. Bagang, a resident of Chayangtajo, Seppa, East Kameng, is accused of stealing money from sick patients at TRIHMS, Naharlagun.
Barman, a resident of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, is accused of committing daytime burglaries with the intent to assault occupants. Taku, a resident of Michawa, Seppa, East Kameng, is a "habitual offender" involved in multiple cases of motor vehicle theft, burglary, and housebreaking.
Police informed that Taku's modus operandi involved scouting for unattended houses, forcibly breaking open doors, and committing theft during the night. The police have warned citizens to be cautious when purchasing second-hand items, as they could be stolen property. Receiving stolen property is a punishable offence under the law.
Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo has urged the public to report any suspicious activities immediately to the police.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
