March 16, 2023: Ajanta Neog, the Finance Minister of Assam, presented the Budget 2023-24 in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Some of the highlighted points of the budget are:
The Finance Minister informed that the government will invest Rs 5000 crore over the next three years to transform over two lakh unemployed youths into job creators. 40,000 youths will be recruited in different departments by the government.
The government will enhance Assam Orunodoi Scheme by Rs 150, making it Rs 1400 per month by the end of the year.
For education purpose, Assam government will also provide tablets which will be connected with a central agency providing educational mentorship to the students of Class 9 who will secure 1st rank. Free bicycle will be provided to all the students of Class 9 studying in government schools.
On the other hand, scooty will be provided to all boys and girls securing first division in the higher secondary exams.
