July 08, 2020: The death toll due to COVID-19 in Assam has risen to 20 as four more deaths were reported on Wednesday. 



Expressing grief the recent deaths were informed by Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma via a tweet. He tweeted,” My heartfelt condolences to families and relatives of four more victims of #COVID19.



These are trying times, and we all must adhere to guidelines being repeatedly given - wearing mask, social distance and not going out unless very important.”





The deceased have been identified as Sri Safikul Rahman (60) of Hidayatpur, Guwahati; Sri Romoni Mazumdar (60) of Patacharkuchi, Barpeta; Sri Utpal Kumar Chaliha (75) of Kahilipara, Dispur and Sri hari Prasad Mandal (68) of Lal Ganesh, Guwahati  who were admitted in GMCH COVID ICU. They succumbed to their critical infections on Wednesday morning betweeb 2 AM to 5 AM. They were all on invasive ventilation, had severe pneumonia, urosepsis and septic shock.





Earlier on Tuesday, another person passed away due to the deadly virus. The deceased was identified as Dhadaram Mura - a resident of Kaliabor who was undergoing treatment at GMCH.



It may be added that total COVID-19 cases now stand at 13336 in Assam out of which 8329 have recovered and 3 have migrated.
