August 24, 2024: One of the three accused involved in the gang-rape of a minor girl in Dhing, Assa, died after he jumped into a pond with cuffed hands when a police team had taken him for scene re-creation on Saturday.

Tafazul Islam, the prime accused who was arrested on Friday, allegedly tried to escape the police custody and jumped into pond.

Police said that the accused was taken to the location where the crime was allegedly committed for a re-creation of the crime scene around 3.30 am.

A minor girl was allegedly raped by three persons on Thursday evening when she was returning home from tuition on her bicycle. She was left injured and unconscious on the roadside. Later locals rescued her and informed police about the incident.
