Guwahati: In a significant operation, a huge quantity of intoxicating cough syrup was seized at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Guwahati, Assam.

The seizure was made from a super bus bearing the number AR02A3487.

According to reports, the cough syrup was transported from Siliguri to ISBT, concealed inside a consignment of ghee, with a fake challan.

The joint operation was carried out by the Garhchuk police, ISBT police, and Azara police based on an specific tip-off.

A total of 3,850 bottles of cough syrup were seized, packed in 50 cartoons. The driver and handymen of the bus were also arrested.

The accused have been identified as Golap Hussain, Hari Prasad Chettri, and Jyotish Basumatary.

Further investigation is underway.
