August 26, 2020: As many as 1,973 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Assam on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 94,592. The death toll increased to 260.

A total of 34307 tests were done on Tuesday of which 5.75% came positive. Highest 510 were reported from Kamrup M followed by Cachar- 149, Jorhat- 132, Kamrup (R)- 121 and Dibrugarh- 116.

After 1724 patients were discharged on Tuesday, the number of total discharged patients is 74,814 while the total active patients is 19,515

However, 8 patients lose their battle with Covid 19 taking the total death toll to 260. The deceased are Usha Das (70), Aparna Roy (48) and Nayana Das (21) of Kamrup M; Labanya Bhuyan (65) of Nalbari; Masfil Hussain (55) of Baksa; Ajay Kr Gupta (40) of Karbi Anglong; Jhantu Deb (46) of Golaghat and Bishnu Biswas (55) of Majuli.
