March 14, 2024: A home guard jawan of Dhula Police Station identified as Sukur Ali has been arrested for extortion in Kharupetia, Assam on Thursday.

Reportedly, Sukur Ali was helped by one of the driver named Ainul Haque. He has also been arrested by the police for his involvement.

As per sources, Sukur had been extorting money in the name of some top police officers. He was harassing various people for the past six months.

Both Sukur and the driver have been arrested based on a complaint registered by a victim identified as Azhar Ali of Sherpur. According to the complaint, Azhar Ali's brother was abducted by Sukur Ali and took him to the police station where they demanded a large sum of money.
