October 10, 2020: A total of Rs. 4.5 crores were recovered from two places by Assam Police on Saturday.

The first recovery was made at Barpeta. Acting on a tip-off, Barpeta Police raided the residence of a railway employee at Gandhinagar area of Barpeta and recovered Rs. 1.5 crores. The cash was hidden in a steel almirah in the house of Debraj Das, a technical supervisor with the railways. He is suspected to be involved in the SI scam in Assam Police.

The second recovery was made in Abhayapuri. A huge sum of Rs. 3 crores was recovered from the residence of the kin of an accused in the SI scam. The cash was recovered from the house of Tarani Banikya, father-in-law of Rupam Das. Rupam is one of the accused ion the SI scam. The huge money was hidden in a wardrobe.
