Guwahati: A recent police operation in Chirang, Assam has led to the recovery of a 7.65 pistol and two live bullets buried near the Makra river in Parbatjhora.
The operation was conducted by a team from the Amguri Police Station.
Police sources said that they had inputs of a gun being hidden somewhere in the area.
Based on the input, an operation was launhed and the pistol and bullets were found buried in the ground near Makranai in Parbatjora.
The police said that they have initiated an investigation into the incident, and further details are awaited.
The recovery of the pistol and live bullets suggests that there might be some miscreants active in the area but no arrests have been made so far.
It has also been suspected that the pistol may belong to robbers but the police are likely to reveal more information as the case unfolds.
