April 2, 2024: A 12-Year-Old student allegedly opened fire at Viertola school premises in Vantaa, Finland on Tuesday, leaving one child lost his life and two critically injured.



According to police officials, the apprehended suspected shooter fled the school on foot and was caught by officers in the northern Helsinki Tapulikaupunki neighbourhood.

The incident occurred at the school's Jokiranta site, which serves pupils in grades 3 to 6. Viertola School, housed in two locations, has around 800 pupils in grades 1-9 and a staff of around 90. Following the incident, the students were kept in their classrooms.
