March 23, 2025: After a thorough investigation spanning over 4 years, the CBI has filed a closure report in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The report concludes that there is no evidence to suggest that anyone drove Rajput to suicide.

Rajput, a 34 year old actor, was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020. His sudden demise shocked fans and sparked numerous theories, including allegations of black magic. The CBI took over the investigation from Bihar Police in August 2020.

The closure report, filed in two cases, clears Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s girlfriend at the time of his death, and his family of any wrongdoing. The report also absolves others named in the two FIRs filed in the case.

A forensic team from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had earlier concluded that Rajput’s death was a case of suicide, not murder.

The investigation involved questioning over 20 people, including Chakraborty. The CBI also seized and forensically examined several items, including a laptop, hard disks, a camera, and mobile phones.

The Bandra magistrate court has scheduled the next hearing for April 8. Once the closure report is accepted by the court, the case can be formally closed.
