January 30 is observed as Martyrs' Day in India, a day dedicated to commemorating the sacrifices made by those who fought for the country’s freedom, with special focus on Mahatma Gandhi's contribution to the nation’s independence struggle.
To mark this occasion, the National Archives of India (NAI) and the National Gandhi Museum (NGM), in collaboration with the National Film Archives of India and Prasar Bharati Archives, launched a special exhibition titled “Journey of the Mahatma: Through His Own Documents.” The exhibition, inaugurated by Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee, granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi and Chairman of the National Gandhi Museum, showcases rare photographs, documents, audio recordings, and video clippings that chart the transformative journey of Gandhi, from his early life in Porbandar to his pivotal role in India's struggle for independence.
The exhibition is being held at the Exhibition Hall of the National Gandhi Museum at Rajghat, New Delhi, and offers a deep, immersive look into the life and legacy of one of India’s most revered leaders.
