January 30, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday claimed that Delhi Police conducted a raid at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s official residence in New Delhi, a charge that the police have outrightly denied.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi took to social media platform X, alleging that a team of Delhi Police arrived at Kapurthala House, Bhagwant Mann’s official residence in the capital, to carry out a raid. She also accused the police of targeting an elected Chief Minister while ignoring alleged malpractices by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"Delhi Police has reached to raid Bhagwant Mann's house in Delhi. BJP people are distributing money, shoes, sheets in broad daylight - that is not visible. Instead, they go to raid the residence of an elected Chief Minister," Atishi posted on X.
The senior AAP leader further criticized the BJP, stating that the people of Delhi will respond to such actions in the upcoming Assembly elections on February 5. "Wow BJP! People of Delhi will give their answer on 5th," she added.
However, Delhi Police refuted the claims made by AAP, stating that no raid was conducted at Bhagwant Mann’s residence. The police have not yet issued a detailed statement on the matter.
The incident has sparked political controversy ahead of the crucial Delhi Assembly elections, with AAP accusing the BJP of misusing central agencies and law enforcement bodies for political gains. The BJP, on the other hand, has dismissed these allegations as baseless.
As tensions rise in the run-up to the elections, the development has added another layer of political drama in the ongoing tussle between AAP and BJP in the national capital.
