March 18, 2025: A shocking incident has surfaced from Barbali in Hojai, where a mosque imam has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. The incident has sparked outrage, especially as it took place during the holy month of Ramadan.  

According to police reports, the accused imam, identified as Yahia Ahmed, was taken into custody by Debasthan police based on a complaint filed by the victim. The victim, a teenage student, alleged that the imam subjected her to sexual abuse.  

Upon receiving the complaint, the Debasthan police launched an investigation and arrested the accused. Officer-in-Charge Kailash Malakar confirmed the arrest, stating that legal proceedings are underway.  

The accused imam, Yahia Ahmed, is a resident of Choudhury Bazar in Charingpathar. Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and strict action will be taken as per the law.  

The incident has raised concerns among the local community, with many demanding stringent punishment for the accused. Meanwhile, police have urged people to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation.
