Guwahati: In a targeted operation, Manipur Police commandos apprehended an alleged active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party – People's War Group (KCP-PWG) in Imphal West district on Tuesday.

As per reports, the accused has been identified as Ningthoukhongjam Sushil Meitei, a 50-year-old active member of the banned outfit.

Acting on intelligence about extortion attempts targeting local businesses, the anti-extortion unit launched a 1.5-hour operation, resulting in Sushil Meitei's arrest at the Konsam Oil Pump.

Police seized a mobile phone, SIM card, and several demand letters from his possession.

Sushil Meitei, a resident of Langthabal Kunja Mamang Leikai, has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered for further legal action.

This arrest follows the recent detention of two other KCP-PWG members, Khundrakpam Michael Singh and Laishram Tomba Singh, on March 16.
