Lokayukta Clears Siddaramaiah in MUDA Land Scam, But Scrutiny Continues

February 19, 2025: The Karnataka Lokayukta has found no evidence against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam case, ruling out any immediate action against him.

In a notice issued to complainant Snehamayi Krishna—one of the three anti-corruption activists who petitioned Governor Thawarchand Gehlot last year for Siddaramaiah’s prosecution—the Lokayukta stated that there was no substantial material to support the allegations against the Chief Minister and other accused individuals.

The Lokayukta has given Krishna a week to respond before it submits its final report. However, the compensatory land allotments by MUDA between 2016 and 2024, including those granted to Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, will continue to remain under scrutiny. A supplementary report on this aspect will be presented to the court.

The MUDA land scam allegations revolve around the allocation of prime plots in Mysuru to Parvathi in exchange for land on the city’s outskirts. Activists claim the deal resulted in a financial loss of ₹45 crore to the state. The complaint also named Siddaramaiah’s son, S Yathindra, along with senior MUDA officials.

Despite the Lokayukta’s latest ruling, the case remains under public and legal observation as investigations into specific land transactions continue.
