April 1, 2025: A fresh encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district late Monday night. This marks the third major gunfight in the region in the past nine days.
According to sources, three terrorists have been trapped in the upper reaches of the Ramkot area, a remote and forested part of the district. Security forces have established contact with the militants, and additional reinforcements have been deployed to the encounter site. The operation is currently ongoing, and further details are awaited.
This latest gunfight follows two previous encounters in Kathua. The first took place on March 23 in the Hiranagar sector’s Sanyal village, where a girl was injured and later hospitalised. The terrorists involved in that operation initially managed to escape, prompting continued search efforts by security forces.
On March 27, another intense gunfight erupted in Juthana, resulting in the deaths of four police personnel. During the operation, two terrorists—believed to be affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM)—were neutralized. Security sources had earlier reported that four to five militants were hiding in the dense forests of Juthana, leading to an extensive search and engagement operation.
With the latest encounter in Kathua, security agencies remain on high alert, intensifying anti-terror operations in the region.
