Guwahati: A 12-year-old boy was severely injured after reportedly being attacked by a leopard in Guwahati, Assam.

The victim has been identified as Farooq Ali.

The alleged leopard attack took place in Maligaon's East Madhav Dev Nagar area of Guwahati, Assam.

The leopard targeted the boy's head and neck.

The incident has sparked panic among locals, who have taken to the streets, armed with sticks, in an attempt to protect themselves.

Following the incident, police and the forest department have begun patrolling in the area to ensure that the leopard does not attack or cause harm to any other person.

The victim is currently under medical treatment.
