Army seized large amount of weapons in counter-insurgency operation across Manipur

September 4, 2024: In a series of coordinated operations, the Indian Army along with the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police and other paramilitary forces, seized a large amount of caches of weapons, ammunition, and other war-like materials from various districts of ethnic-violence hit Manipur.

The integrated operations involved extensive planning and judicious use of detection dogs, metal detectors and other state-of-the-art equipment, officials said.

On August 28, acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police uncovered a hidden arsenal in the Sekmaijin area of Kakching district.

The recovered items included a Sten Mark-V rifle, two 12-bore single-barrel rifles, two 9mm pistols, nine hand grenades, and other military-grade equipment.
