January 15, 2025: A tragic incident unfolded last evening when a young man, identified as Akash Choudhury, lost his life following a violent altercation with four of his friends. Akash, 29, who worked as a Rapido rider during the night, was reportedly out for drinks with his friends at the IMFL Wine Shop, located near the Kahilipara Power House. What was intended to be a casual evening out soon escalated into a deadly brawl.

According to police reports, Akash, along with his four friends — Bonjit Rajbongshi, Ziarul Ali, Devobrat Mallik, and Tarun Buragohain — were drinking inside the wine shop. After exiting the shop, an argument broke out, leading to a physical altercation between Akash and Bonjit. Witnesses say the fight quickly escalated, with Bonjit allegedly pushing Akash into the street. In a tragic turn, as Akash stumbled into the road, he was struck by a speeding vehicle.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Hayat Hospital by Ziarul Ali in an auto. However, despite efforts to save him, Akash was declared dead upon arrival.

Police have identified the four accused in the attack, all of whom have confessed to their involvement in the incident. Investigators believe the altercation was sparked by a minor disagreement between Akash and Bonjit. CCTV footage from the area has already been reviewed, showing the chaotic moments leading up to Akash’s tragic death.

The police have launched a full investigation into the matter. Authorities are in the process of questioning the suspects, while the local community remains in shock over the senseless loss of a young life.
