October 21, 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah honored the bravery of police personnel and soldiers who have lost their lives in the line of duty during the annual Police Commemoration Day observance in Delhi on Monday. This day commemorates the sacrifice of 10 CRPF soldiers who were killed in a confrontation with the Chinese army on October 21, 1959.

In his address, Shah expressed profound gratitude for the sacrifices made by the security forces, emphasizing the dedication of both army and police personnel and their families in safeguarding the nation. "This occasion honors the countless sacrifices made to ensure the security of the nation," he stated.

Shah reaffirmed the government's commitment to eradicating terrorism and drug trafficking in India, highlighting the progress made in regions that were once plagued by unrest, such as Kashmir, areas affected by left-wing extremism, and parts of the North East. He noted that these regions are now largely peaceful, thanks to the relentless efforts of the armed forces.

However, he cautioned that the fight against security threats is far from over. Shah pointed to emerging challenges, including the use of drones, narcotics, and cyber threats, asserting his belief that the courage and resilience of India’s soldiers would overcome any obstacle. "The reason the country sleeps peacefully is due to the capacity of our soldiers," he remarked.

Additionally, Shah discussed recent legislative changes aimed at streamlining the justice system, announcing that any crime registered in the country would reach the Supreme Court for resolution within three years under the new framework.
