TRF Claims Responsibility for Ganderbal Attack That Killed Doctor and Six Workers

October 21, 2024: The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district that left a doctor and six migrant workers dead. Sources revealed that TRF's chief, Sheikh Sajjad Gul, orchestrated the assault, marking a significant shift in the group's targeting strategy.

The attack occurred at a construction site in the Sonamarg area, where workers were engaged in the Z-Morh tunnel project connecting Gaganeer to Sonamarg. Reports indicate that the attack unfolded late Sunday evening as the laborers returned to their camp. Alongside the fatalities, five individuals sustained injuries during the assault.

TRF's recent activities have shown an alarming trend, with the group increasingly targeting not only Kashmiri Pandits but also Sikhs and non-locals. This change in approach signifies a broader agenda to incite communal tensions within the region.

In response to the attack, a four-member team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is scheduled to investigate the site on Monday afternoon. The Union Home Ministry has indicated that the NIA may take over the inquiry into this incident.

Sources have disclosed that the terrorists conducted reconnaissance of the attack location for approximately one month before executing their plan, utilizing a small group of operatives to carry out the targeted killings.
