SEPTEMBER 7, 2024 – Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh met Governor L. Acharya on Saturday in response to renewed incidents of violence in the state. The urgent meeting followed a high-level consultation with coalition MLAs and Ministers at the CM Secretariat.

The emergency meeting, attended by 24 of the 53 MLAs from the ruling coalition comprising the BJP, Naga People’s Front, and National People's Party (NPP)was convened after a series of attacks on civilians by armed men, according to official sources. Six ministers were also present at the discussions. 

The fresh surge of violence has raised concerns across the region, prompting swift action from the state leadership. Further developments are expected following the Chief Minister's discussions with the Governor.
