February 28, 2025: In a shocking incident, police have arrested a man for allegedly recording and sharing videos of women bathing and changing clothes during the Maha Kumbh. The accused, identified as Amit Kumar Jha from Hooghly district, West Bengal, had reportedly uploaded the videos on YouTube to gain social media followers and monetize his content.



A senior police official stated that Jha admitted to filming the videos with the intention of boosting his online presence. A case has been registered against him at the Cyber Crime Police Station under sections 296/79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act.



Authorities have warned against the misuse of digital platforms for such unethical and illegal activities. The incident has raised concerns over privacy and security at large public gatherings, prompting officials to tighten surveillance to prevent similar occurrences.
