Guwahati: A police team in Cachar, Assam apprehended two suspected heroin peddlers on Friday evening.
The accused were identified as Jahir Laskar and Ashik Uddin.
They were apprehended from the Kabuganj market area in Cachar.
The police team also succeeded in seizing over 50 packets of heroin from the suspects.
The raid was a result of an undercover operation, where police officers from Sonai police station posed as buyers to catch the peddlers off guard.
However, upon discovering the police presence, the peddlers attempted to flee, leading to a scuffle.
Despite being attacked, the two police officers managed to apprehend two of the peddlers, while others escaped.
A police team soon arrived at the scene, assisting in the arrest of the two suspects.
The police have filed a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
