November 22, 2024: In a first response to the recent allegations linked to the indictment of industrialist Gautam Adani in the United States, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu assured the state legislative assembly that the government would take appropriate action based on the charges outlined in the US reports. Speaking on Friday, Naidu confirmed that the state administration had received the indictment reports and would carefully review them before proceeding with any necessary steps.

“We have all the indictment reports filed in the US. We will study them thoroughly and take action accordingly. Once we have a clear understanding, we will inform the public of the steps we are taking,” Naidu stated during the assembly session.

Naidu’s remarks follow mounting pressure from various members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), who have called for an investigation into the alleged corruption activities during the tenure of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) government, which was led by Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy between 2019 and 2024.

In his address, Naidu further emphasized that his government had been actively addressing corruption concerns related to the previous administration. "Since the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led NDA government came to power, we have been discussing the alleged corruption and irregularities that occurred under the YSRCP rule," Naidu said, highlighting the damage to Andhra Pradesh's reputation.

Responding to the criticism, the YSRCP issued a statement on Friday, refuting claims of any direct involvement with the Adani Group. The party clarified that the state government’s agreement was with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to procure power, and there was no direct deal between the Andhra Pradesh power distribution companies and Adani entities. The statement categorically rejected the allegations, stating that they were baseless and incorrect in light of the indictment.

The unfolding controversy, tied to Adani's legal issues in the US, has sparked political debates, with opposition parties calling for investigations into the potential misuse of power during the previous administration.
