Guwahati: A devastating fire broke out in the Narengi area of Guwahati, Assam on Tuesday.

The incident took place near the Kenduguri Buddha temple, leaving a family's residence completely gutted. The house, belonging to Kipendra Das, was ravaged by the flames, which spread rapidly due to strong winds.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was allegedly sparked by some 'miscreants' in the nearby jungle, which then spread to Das's house. The situation took a deadly turn when two gas cylinders exploded, destroying all the belongings in the house.

Locals quickly sprang into action, informing the fire brigade about the incident.

Although the fire brigade personnel faced difficulties in reaching the spot due to the hilly terrain, they eventually arrived at the scene. However, it was the prompt and efforts of the locals that ultimately led to the flames being doused.

Several nearby houses were saved from the fire by the locals, preventing a potentially catastrophic disaster.

Further investigation into the degree of damage is being carried out.
