August 8, 2024: On Thursday, the Reserve Bank of India governor Shaktikanta Das announced that RBI led Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 percent for the ninth time in a row.

He added that the decision was taken with a majority of 4:2 by the MPC. It also decided to retain the withdrawal of accommodation stance.

During the announcement, the governor said that inflation is on a broadly declining trajectory.
