YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia to Face Assam Police Today Over ‘India Got Latent’ Controversy

March 4, 2025: Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, is set to appear before the Assam Police in Guwahati on Tuesday in connection with his controversial remarks on the reality show India Got Latent. His comments on the show triggered widespread outrage, leading to legal action against him.

Following a case registered in Guwahati, the Assam Police issued summons for Allahbadia to appear for questioning. The investigation has gained momentum after fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani was interrogated by the Guwahati Crime Branch last week over his alleged involvement in the controversy.

Chanchlani, who was named in the Assam FIR along with Allahbadia, faced several hours of questioning at the Crime Branch office. Speaking to the media, Guwahati Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain stated, “Ashish Chanchlani has cooperated with our investigation. We have no immediate plans to call him again unless necessary. Meanwhile, fresh summons will be issued to others linked to the case.”

The controversy erupted after Allahbadia made remarks regarding parents and sex in an episode of India Got Latent, which was hosted by comedian Samay Raina. The comments sparked severe backlash, leading to complaints and legal action under multiple laws, including the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Information Technology Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Chanchlani, who has sought the quashing of the FIR against him in Assam, argued that he did not make any controversial statements on the show. His legal team has requested the transfer of the case to Mumbai, citing an earlier FIR filed in Maharashtra. The Guwahati High Court granted Chanchlani temporary relief on February 18, directing him to appear before the investigating officer within ten days.

As the probe continues, all eyes are now on Allahbadia’s appearance before the Assam Police, which could further shape the legal proceedings in this high-profile case.
