BSF Thwarts Cross-Border Drug Smuggling, Seizes 103 Kg Ganja in Bengal

March 4, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of ganja across the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. A total of 103 kg of ganja, packed in 50 packets, was seized in the operation.

Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF personnel heightened surveillance in the North 24 Parganas district. In the early hours of Tuesday, they noticed a group of 3-4 individuals carrying heavy loads and moving suspiciously toward the border fence. When challenged, the smugglers abandoned the contraband and managed to flee under the cover of darkness.

A thorough search operation led to the recovery of 50 packets filled with ganja. The seized drugs were later handed over to the Customs Office in Bangaon for further legal action.

The BSF continues to remain on high alert to curb cross-border smuggling and has strengthened security measures along the international border to prevent such illegal activities.
