June 21, 2023: The flood situation in Assam continues to be grim on Wednesday due to heavy rainfall, wind and thunderstorms. Nearly 34,000 people have been affected in 9 districts and subdivisions of the state.



However, no casualties have been reported due to flood in the state so far.



The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Wednesday issued flood alerts in Barpeta and Lakhimpur districts.





Earlier, the India Meteorological Department issued a red and orange alert after predicting extremely heavy rainfall across several districts of Assam over the next few days.



According to the report released by ASDMA on Tuesday, the most flood affected districts/urban /subdivisions are Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hojai, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, Tamulpur, Udalguri, Jorhat and Kamrup (M).
