February 12, 2023: The former Home Minister of Rajasthan Gulab Chand Kataria will be the next Governor of Assam.

BJP’s 78-year-old Kataria served as the Home Minister of Rajasthan from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2014 to 2018. He also served as an Education Minister of the Rajasthan Government between 1993 to 1998.

According to an interview with ANI, the former Kataria Minister said, “Whenever the party has given me any responsibility I have fulfilled those with hardwork. I will make sure I will fulfil the responsibility of being a governor with efficiency & without any bias”.

On the other hand, Taking to the Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said,"Heartiest congratulations Shri Gulab Chand Kataria ji on being appointed as Hon'ble Governor of Assam. Your vast experience in public service will surely benefit Assam immensely. Looking forward to work with you to take our journey of progress further. @Gulab_kataria"
