This ambitious project, announced by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog during the presentation of the Assam Budget 2025-2026.



The project according to the finance minister aims to provide a continuous and reliable flow of data for critical socio-economic projects in the state.



ASSAMSAT will be developed in collaboration with IN-SPACe, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center, which is part of the Department of Space, Government of India.



The satellite will offer dedicated services for various sectors, including agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure development, and security border management and police operations.



One of the key objectives of the ASSAMSAT project is to involve students from colleges in Assam in building experimental satellites, with the support of IN-SPACe and ISRO. This initiative aims to ignite the imagination of young minds and foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the state, the minister said.



The launch of ASSAMSAT is expected to have a significant impact on Assam's socio-economic development, enabling the state government to make data-driven decisions and improve the delivery of public services.
