Guwahati: A security screening at Dibrugarh Airport in Assam, India, led to the discovery of a 9mm bullet in a passenger's bag on Monday evening.
The passenger, Sambhu Dayal Sharma, was detained by security personnel before boarding an IndiGo flight to Rajasthan.
According to airport authorities, Sharma, a resident of Longding, Arunachal Pradesh, claimed to be unaware of the bullet's presence in his bag during preliminary questioning.
He also claimed that he had been receiving extortion demands from insurgent groups in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Mohanbari police have taken Sharma into custody for further interrogation.
An investigation has been launched to determine the source of the ammunition and assess potential security threats. The officials are verifying Sharma's background and investigating possible links to unlawful activities.
