Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks to Russia’s Putin on Tuesday

August 27, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently visited to Ukraine, spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday and exchanged perspectives on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In a post on X, PM Modi said that he shared insights from his recent visit to Kyiv, during which he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and urged him to sit with Putin to find a way out of the crisis.



PM Modi, who has not yet condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine, also reiterated India’s firm commitment to support an ‘early, abiding and peaceful resolution’ of the conflict, which is now in its third year.



PM Modi tweeted, “Discussed measures to further strengthen Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. Exchanged perspective on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and my insights from the recent visit to Ukraine.”
