State Government Plans Extensive Water Arrangements for Maha Kumbh to Ensure No Devotee Goes Thirsty

OCTOBER 28, 2024- In a bid to ensure that no devotee goes thirsty during the upcoming Maha Kumbh, the state government has unveiled a comprehensive plan to provide purified drinking water throughout the event. As part of this initiative, 200 water ATMs and 6,500 tap stands will be installed to cater to the millions of devotees attending the holy event for sacred dips and prayers to Maa Ganga.

The water ATMs will be strategically positioned along key routes leading to the mela area, with additional units placed in open spaces within the campus. Devotees will have access to purified RO water with just the push of a button, ensuring their hydration needs are met in a convenient manner.

Officials from the Jalkal department confirmed that a total of 1,249 kilometers of water pipelines will be laid to serve the large influx of devotees. These pipelines will stretch from akharas to kalpavas, providing continuous access to water. In areas where pipelines cannot be laid, water tankers will be deployed to ensure uninterrupted water supply.

In addition to the pipelines and water ATMs, the construction of 36 new tube wells is nearly complete. These wells will play a crucial role in meeting the increased demand for water, particularly in densely populated sections of the mela. Special attention has been given to key areas including Daraganj, Kidganj, Mutthiganj, Chhota Baghada, Baihrana, Sohbatiya Bagh, Teliyar Ganj, Govindpur, Jhunsi, and Naini, where extensive water arrangements will be implemented.

With the implementation of these water initiatives, the state government is committed to ensuring that the spiritual journey of every devotee remains smooth and hassle-free during the Maha Kumbh.
