March 28, 2025: India’s start up ecosystem has given rise to numerous success stories, and the latest addition to this list is Razorpay co founders Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur. At just 34, they have become India’s youngest billionaires, with a net worth of Rs 8,643 crore each, according to Hurun Global Rich List 2025.

Before turning entrepreneurs, Kumar worked at Microsoft as a software development engineer, while Mathur was a wireline field engineer at Schlumberger. Their experience with the challenges of online payments in India led them to create Razorpay in 2014.

The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 also reported that Mukesh Ambani has dropped out of the top 10, due to a Rs 1 Lakh crore decline in wealth. Meanwhile, Elon Musk remains the world’s richest person, followed by Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.

India’s total billionaire wealth now stands at Rs 98 Lakh crore, nearly one-third of the country’s GDP. Mumbai continues to boast the largest concentration of billionaires in India. However, it has lost its title as Asia’s billionaire capital to Shanghai. Meanwhile, Bengaluru and Pune are rapidly emerging as new hubs for billionaires.
