April 2, 2025: In a recent incident, Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, resulting in heavy casualties for Pakistani forces. The Indian Army retaliated effectively, foiling an infiltration attempt by Pakistani Army, in the Krishna Ghati area of Poonch district.
According to sources, four to five infiltrators from the Pakistan Army were reportedly killed in the incident. The Indian army stated that there has been no loss of life or property on its side.
This incident is part of a larger trend of increased cross-border firing incidents along the LoC in the southern Pir Panjal region over the past two months. Pakistan has been accused of firing, sniping, and border action team (BAT) attempts, which has been dealt swiftly with Indian Army at local level. Despite the ceasefire agreement reaffirmed by India and Pakistan in February 2021, the recent escalation of ceasefire violations raises concerns about the agreement’s fragility.
