April 29, 2022: The Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam’s Darrang district would be closed for visitors from May 1. A public notice to this effect has been issued by the authorities.
Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve authorities had earlierinformed that the elephant safari at Park will be closed from May 1. The jeep safari will continue till 15th May.
The Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve authorities had also informed the elephant safari and rafting at the Manas National Park would be closed from May 1 till further notice, the Park authorities said today.
“The Field Director of Manas Tiger Reserve has ordered the closure of the Upper Bungalow, Lower Bungalow and Dormitory at Mothanguri along with elephant safari and rafting at the Manas National Park from May 1, 2022 till further notice,’ an official release said.
This order has been issued on April 19, 2022, in compliance with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, National Tiger Conservation Authority letter dated August 18, 2015, the release further said.
Roads connecting the folloriwg places too would remain closed from May 1 -- Uchila Camp to Chorphuli camp and onwards to Mothanguri main road under Bansbari range, Range Office to Kanchanbari camp and Sewali camp to Dwimary camp roads under Bhuyanpara range, and all roads under Kahitama Beat, Panbari Range and Kuklung Range.
The national parks of Assam are usually shut during this time due to the rainy season and floods.
